Sloothby Mission

Sloothby 'Mission'

Sloothby is a small village of forty-nine properties and around a hundred adults. It has no amenities such as a shop or pub, though it does have a second-hand shop and ice cream sales.

The church at Sloothby (now closed) had no known dedication though there is some suggestion that it is the "Good Shepherd". It is normally referred to as the "Sloothby Mission" and serviced as part of the parish of Willoughby. As a mission building it has no patron. The Building was erected in 1862 as a school with the mission chapel. In 1956 the building was transferred to the Diocesan Education Board amd shortly after closed as a school.
